Sorry, the following is nothing at all to do with VMT.. just electric vehicles in general, the niche industry we are all in.
Here is what worries me for us. Something like Hyundai swamping the early adopter, Elon Musk's Tesla.

All good for a laugh today and nothing more... so far. But, I suspect that if a couple of the mainstream manufacturers seriously start mass producing pure EV vehicles, Tesla will be dead in the water.
As an aside, BYD in China builds an all electric SUV looking car which is currently being used as taxis. Apart from the average quality interior and rattly suspension, they are dead smooth and quiet. Language difficulties precluded me getting an accurate idea of their price but they seem to be selling for around $45K AUD... Say about half that of a Tesla.
