    OscarOne,

If you think an SPP is on the cards, and it may well be as you say 'to raise part of the $75 million need to snavell BYI', surely it would be at a discount (20c to 22c on the current form?).

Therefore, wouldn't you wait for the SPP (or the SP to drift down towards the SPP price, as it does)?

Mind you, from the last time the market went pear-shaped (the initial sub-prime fears) I found that I missed a lot of opportunities by waiting for that even-cheaper price, and by the time things had rebounded it was too late. A review of that strategy lead me to the conclusion that it would have been better to buy some of the low-priced stock at the time, then average-down if it dropped further, rather than miss out altogether. When things get really cheap, it diminishes brokerage concerns, as the discount more than makes up for the prospect of multiple purchases rather than one big strike.

I've been applying that more and more lately, although unfortunately I no longer have significant spare funds to it with, so it's a matter of selling out of other stocks to do it when the opportunities are there (... doesn't work when the whole market is down though).

    Cheers and good luck.

p.s. I'd imagine that Prime would be very interested in some of the BYI action ... it'll be interesting to see how it plays out
