I've recently read Mark Mervini's, Trade Like a Stock Market Wizard, and his method is to buy only upward moving stocks that have great returns (or will have). He makes the point that so many traders see a risen chart and don't buy beacuse they think it is too late, only for it to keep going to unimaginable highs.
Here is a screen shot of one of his examples.
He also shows that many stocks have what could be considered overly very high PE ratios at an early stage, which keeps traders away, but then the PE explodes to triple digits.
