I've been to the Apuramac project area, before SRK got hold of it. It is certainly there and of the quality that SRK claim. However, SRK have their work cut out. It occurs in a very mountainous region, making the seemingly short 150-odd km to the coast very far indeed. Building a slurry pipeline, yet alone a rail, will be extremely expensive given the vast valleys that they need to traverse.
On top of that, it occurs in a fiercely independent farming and grazing district that has already delayed drilling campaigns.
There is little doubt that this project can get up, but only with an expert, diligent, and focussed team. We will need to see whether Ken fills the role or whether he too will be distracted by Indon coal too. Best thing SRK can do is spin off the projects to guarantee focus, otherwise it's just more of the same......
