There's been talks on that reported 20M share short trade. Did some quick research and found something useful.

Whether or not shortman.com.au is correct, I cannot speculate. I normally resort to ASX itself in the hope that our competent exchange performs regular checks on the short reports.

ASIC publish the Regulatory guide 196 on short selling including related reporting obligations under the Corps Act 2001 on its website as well. Intervention of the Act is not joking matter, yet I have not found information that reporting incorrect short sell data constitute an offence under specific provision of the Act.
