A couple of points re: the Darwin site
• NT Government on board - they found the site, if not donated the land to TNG for this purpose.
• Site is a re-purposed industrial site in an industrial zone
• Environmental requirements in this location already a major industrial zone, I'd expect will be approved fairly expediently - the EPA knows all they need to about the location.
• No Native Title Claim
• Construction capability, Engineering capability well established in Darwin - having Inpex just finishing any contractor on that project knows exactly what is required - Inpex had 8,000 people out there at one stage
• Construction costs will be down with the wind down of projects across Australia
• Community wise - traffic to the location was very high for Inpex so risk of complaints from residents minimal. Inpex wind down - is impacting house prices & employment. This project will be welcomed.
• Accommodation for FIFO workers more than ample - there will be thousands of construction type rooms vacant after Inpex
The Risk & Opportunity register for TNG's Darwin Refinery will be a sea of green IMO. Low risk, ample opportunities.
