Been thinking. What is the true “Potential” looking at this Stock from outside the box with no Engineering experience. What can we really expect.
Regardless of unreported issues to the Market with design the CETO 5 project was “the first array of offshore wave power generators to be connected to an electricity grid anywhere in the world and completed 14,000 cumulative operating hours, the highest ever recorded in the global wave energy industry”
This may well have had its problems relating to Cost vs Output as well as assumed design flaws, however the main point being in principle the system survived for an extended period through varying sea states without any “major “ failure, this C5 era was obviously a necessary evil to stimulate development of C6. Details of findings unfortunately kept from SH creating the responses we see today, negativity and dissatisfaction prominent.
“The new CETO 6 will have a nominal capacity of 1.5MW as opposed to the 1MW capacity of its predecessor” We need to remember this is up from the original 240KW rating of C5 which is 6 fold.
In reality how much has Cost vs Output improved?
I’m going to say immensely and it may even be improved more, or at least hope so otherwise doom is on the horizon.
“CCE has big plans for wave energy, saying it ultimately hopes to locate a 100MW wave farm on the site. To begin with, production will be more modest, with a 1.5MW updated CETO 6 installed initially and plans to scale up to a 20 MW array as a next step”
“Wave energy is the last globally untapped renewable resource and in the best locations it delivers energy 24/7.
These 2 quotes are what really gets my juices flowing.
Not only can CCE predict 100MW in one installation, the WOW factor is it can and will be 24/7 and eventually at thousands of locations Nationally and Globably. This is the true full advantage over other RE technologies for obvious reasons.
Therefore instead of posting yet another mundane repetitive thread stating we need be patient or CCE need do this or CCE don’t do that, I would like to propose, based on but not limited to the above comments, “Potentially” and “if and when” that we are all sitting on a Gold Mine.
Another frustrating point is the last 9 years for me could easily have been avoided, I could have invested today as a fresh SH meaning my outlook would be completely different.
It’s also satisfying for me that I feel CCE are doing their research efficiently meaning reduced risk of failure once C6 is in the water. I have confidence in the Professionals in CCE employ.
This is all personal opinion and is my revived 2018 outlook for my/our Company
