Pb I thought ‘they’ were just trying to flush out a last brace of holders who are prepared to sell shares at these prices rather than setting things up for a big gain then massive sell down at the next good news ( if that is what you were inferring?)
And, for the sake of debate , why would they sell when there were strong inferences at the last AGM the company is all too aware of pressure by institutional investors to return to a dividend stream?
Why would funds expecting a healthy return on investment ( as an example if there was a 4c dividend I calculate, perhaps wrongly, it would represent a 2.5 % return on $1.60 purchase price.) sell down to any great extent when there is years of work in front of us and a chance for capital growth as well.... (except for IFM -industry Super which sold down at higher prices than this recently)
CBA and Wellington have both been increasing their holding in the last few months . And there’s that other smaller fund whose name I can’t remember that was spoken about here and anyone else hovering just under the 5% mark including , most probably IFM )
