Giorgiou Group is a WA-based company that was started in 1977 by Spiro Giorgiou as a drainage company – I think they provided drainage systems to land developers in WA initially. The next generation of Giorgiou's now runs the company.
Over time the business expanded into paving, construction, precast concrete, civil engineering and the like via four separate companies. In the late 1990s these companies were consolidated into Giorgio Group. The Group employees about a thousand people, and operates in WA and the East Coast. Georgia has the highest scores that one can get from the National Prequalification System in respect to road building, bridge building, and financial credibility, namely R5, B4, and F150+.
I do not think there is any nexus with South African business interests.
