This is a stupid article as it wrongly blames gas for the high energy cost. The way the NEM works is the lowest cost bidder with the last generation supply sold sets the wholesale MWh price. (ie. All generators get $500/MWh if Oakey bids $500/MWh due to demand) In any case it does have some interesting data on the prices ERM has been taking advantage of. (If gas didn't exist it would just go to the market cap of $13,000/MWh because liquid (diesel) fuel is by far the most expensive generator)
