I'm not even certain what direction they are driving the business. It looks like they are pushing retail supply of electricity considering what they're doing in the USA, but this is simply a middle-man market, squeezed from both sides.

The gas-fired generation was a good idea, now they just need to upgrade the gas plants with batteries and/or a solar farm if they have the space. A bit of capital investment to take advantage of all the technologies at a location already in the portfolio with a grid connection point that already exists and is operational. Battery technology may not be currently feasible for anything large scale, but solar definitely is.

Gas prices are only going up, especially with Santos having troubles with their Roma field, possibly a sign of things to come in the gas market perhaps, the problem with petroleum engineers driving an industry with coal seams, many of them probably don't even know that the coal shrinks when you de-gas it, subsequently changing the stress profile in the entire structure.

The energy saving acquisitions that they acquired last year were great in terms of appearing to be expanding, but I didn't quite catch the value proposition or how they would help with growth and returns (or should I say jobs and growth).
