Ontheotherhand news emanating daily from here in S. Afica is terrible. Govt corruption at all levels is rampant, govt lines its own pockets without a care etc. Yet country is flooded with refugees seeking a better life esp those fleeing Zimbabwe. It's worth keeping in mind that RSA is by far the world's biggest and most established manganese producer. BHPB own some huge mines here. They are very high grade and have good profit levels. But turmoil is never far away. Strikes, riots are spreading in mining and now agriculture. to a lessor extent there are cases of arson and industrial sabotage. Sadly for those living here these are likely to increase imo.
A single line connects the Mn mines to port. It's 500km long through remote arid region. Not hard to prevent the trains reaching their destination. Namibia has recently made huge strides up the ladder of rankings such as 'Transparency International' which ranks countries re rule-of-law in business.
I would not have bought-in without Atlas holding a majority share. Atlas is currently very profitable and i reckon it will ensure funding for further development is forthcoming.
