From the desk of the Australian's Robert Gottliebsen...host of Business Daily Traditionally the Internet has been the enemy of the big music houses. Now suddenly global music company executives are recognising that the Internet will be part of the 21st century business model for their industry. And amazing as it may seem there is a good chance that a small Australian company Destra Corporation will play a role in changing the way we consume music. If it happens independent artists will receive a tremendous boost while music retailers will need to change their strategy. Last year Destra's CEO, Domenic Carosa formed a joint venture with RCS the world's largest radio station software company to pump new realises to Australian radio stations down the net rather than delivering CD's by hand. EMI, Warner, Universal, Festival Mushroom and BMG agreed to trust their most valuable asset new releases to the small Melbourne based technology company. It worked so well that the joint venture will extend to the US Canada and the UK. If it works overseas then the music companies will have discovered that you can securely use the net to distribute music. The next step is a public subscription system to music via the net. Destra and Carosa want to play a role in that next stage.
