Err Crazy, you put your finger on the button: "and sure Mr dairy farmer has a hard time caught up in the charade". In fact they are having a very hard time. They're the people I'm concerned about, not the supermarkets or the punter who buys this cheap milk. Regarding the negative reaction from the allegedly struggling consumer have a squiz at the stats in my earlier post: despite the availability of this cheap milk since 2011, consumption initially rose for a year then has fallen back since to LT average levels. Dairy Australia states "Per capita consumption of drinking milk is currently estimated at 103 litres. It remains at high levels compared to other comparable, developed countries – thanks in part to the expansion of the ‘coffee culture’ in Australia during the last decade and growth in flavoured milk products." Do you see $2/2L anywhere in this statement?
Cheers as well
