look-you people can't add up!
if the milk end price is one buck a liter at Coles and Woolies, then no one is being SCREWED except Woolies and Coles as Homebrand milk is just a loss leader!
how much do you think it costs the processor to produce the milk in homogenized form, bottle it and then transport it ? they have to make a bloody profit to survive! and sure, Mr dairy farmer has a hard time caught up in the charade.
OK-let's just say that Woolies and Coles agree to stop loss leading on milk and pay the processor 30 cents more as long as the new contract stipulates that the bulk of this amount goes to the farmer!
then Coles and Woolies whack up the price of Homebrand milk to compensate!
ps- do you realize how much negative reaction you would get from an already struggling consumer combined with the latest nonsense about paying for plastic shopping bags?
