Your first ever post on Hotcopper was only this afternoon and you have cross-posted this 'shorting opportunity' to the Qantas forum - a stock that you currently hold.

    What's your motive here?

Are you worried about Rex's impact on Qantaslink's market share given it's strong half-yearly and announcements of new routes?

Did you miss the breakout @ $1.50 and are trying to enter back at that price?

In this instance, you have cherry-picked one incident from a year ago. In terms of REX's safety record, from The Australian: Since Regional Express (Rex) started operations in 2002, Rex has carried out in excess of 1 million takeoffs and landings. Rex has had a perfect safety record and has never suffered any injury related to flight operations.

If safety is an issue for you, maybe you should examine Qantas' history more carefully. Let's take some more recent examples of engineering issues from Qantas over only the last year:

    August 2017:
"TWO Qantas jets have been forced to abandon their flights and return to Sydney after “engineering issues”.
Airbus A380 QF7 took off from Kingsford Smith Airport just before 2pm, bound for Dallas Fort Worth in the United States but flight radars detected the plane circling and dumping fuel."

    Feb 2018:
"A Qantas flight from Perth to Sydney had to turn back on Tuesday afternoon due to an issue with a sensor after take-off."

    May 2017
"Qantas flight from Los Angeles forced to land after engine caught fire"

    Apr. 2017
15 injured in 'serious' stall alert incident on Qantas flight from Hong Kong"

    July 2017
"Qantas A380 makes forced landing in Sydney after 'engine oil leak' - The Qantas flight spent several hours circling off the coast of Sydney after an engine problem over the Pacific Ocean forced it to make a U-turn. Qantas flight 7 returned safely to Sydney after less than four hours into its flight to Dallas "

Are YOU worried about safety on Qantas flights?

In terms of customer unhappiness - REX has a 4/5 rating on TripAdvisor, on par with Qantas.

I appreciate all discussion on this forum, however, not blatant down ramps trying to manipulate the price of a thinly traded stock. Rex came out with a great half-yearly with strong earnings + revenue growth and is still trading at a price below book value (~0.8 for Rex vs ~2.4 for Qantas). Fundamentals look sound.
