Salient points re the Supreme Court of Canada from;
http://www.scc-csc.gc.ca/court-cour/role-eng.aspx
First, in most cases, a party who wishes to appeal the decision of a lower court must obtain permission, or leave to appeal, from a panel of three judges of the Supreme Court
The Court considers an average of between 500 and 600 applications for leave to appeal each year.
The Supreme Court holds three sessions a year and hears on average between 65 and 80 appeals a year.(my comment - how many are successful?)
It serves Canadians by deciding legal issues of public importance, thereby contributing to the development of all branches of law applicable within Canada.
My comment: While Xmas is of 'public importance' to a lot of people....the Higgins dis-used piece of land that they used to use as part of their Xmas tree growing business, is not.
Leave won't be granted...game over save dressing up like a muppet and standing in front of the digger....although I suspect impersonating a muppet for Higgins won't be difficult.
