I agree Oz. The SOL offer has put a dampener on our sp. The Management and Board hasn't totally discarded or rejected the offer in it's entirety and the market is a little weary of their response to the SOL's offer.
After all, they have made it clear that the Board is not against the move from SOL, but that they want what is the fair price for it's shareholders.
Now, what is the right/fair price?? One or two extra cents? No one knows. And the board hasn't given us any idea at all with their response either. Only an Independent expert report will now be able to give us an idea of what is fair and what is not. But, IMO, Independent Experts only writes reports with what has been presented and put in front of them by the engaging client.
As such, and IMHO, we will remain in Limbo for the time being. And if SOL will engage some brokering house to help them along with what they have started, we may even see some capping on the sell side by someone friendly in order to stop the sp moving up while forcing the hands of the nervous nellies.
With this in mind, the only way that we will see an improvement of our sp, would be if someone will come out from left field and lodge a counter offer to the one form SOL, or, for the Board to tell SOL in no uncertain terms to bugger off altogether. Is that going to happen??
If the Board will tell SOL to go away, yes we may see a temporary drop in our sp due to the fact that many buyers that bought on the news that SOL made the T/O bid will sell out, but it will eventually move up due to the good news of the latest copper drilling results, and possibly with more good results to come.
NOw OZ et all, who would want to buy big and push the price up when they don't know what the Board will do next?? Someone may buy a few shares here and there just for the punt that someone else will come in and make a counter offer, but, would they be prepared to pay more than another cent or one and a half cent above the offer, just for the punt?? Think about it!!
To put it simply, SOL has definitely got us in a straight headlock.
I am prepared to go as far as saying now, that SOL knew of the impending drilling results and made the move. And, if I was the Board, and if I was wanting to send them away altogether, I would be talking to XStrata about selling them Mount Colin with the view of giving/returning all of the money to the shareholders via a special dividend. That would put the dampener on SOL's plan.
But, I am not a member of the Board, am I?? So, it is all up to them now.
DYOR.
