the 34% number has been running around for years. I beleive it is fair. The mongolians played hardball with their resource. and hopefully they can use this money to being the first world to mongolia. It currently sits between the third and the first. if you look at places like africa and south east asia, i can not say that mining has brought great wealth and development to the people. My thoughs are the mongolians are a bit better then that. All external investment is good and IVN in mongolia is no exception but it still is a mongolian resource and they want a good deal for it. One would hope the australian government would be a bit harder and tougher with the moning companies here in bringing real change to the local aboriginal communities with all the profit that is created in the north west. time will tell but the mongolians didnt blink in the whole process and now everyone is happy from the local herder to the expat Geo. OT is big enough to make everyone a little better off i think.
