Good traits are:
1)Good Long Term Prospects
2)High return on equity
3)No debt
4)First class management
5)Solid cashflow
6)Few tangible assets
7)Low levels of capex
8)Huge economic moat (90% of market)
They run Iress software platforms on Australian,Canadian & South African stock exchanges & are trying to expand into asia & the UK, with wealth management success in the UK November 2011, this market is twice the size of Australia's,providing opportunity for significant growth,2012 will be used to intergrate into the market & 2013 will see topline & bottom line growth.
They have desktop software that most stockbrokers use
They have a financial & asset advice subscription
They have very honest management, when they stood to loose money when MF Global went bust, they immediately released a statement to asx regading such
They pay a decent dividend
Bad traits are:
1)Extra taxes being paid on employee share grants reducing net profits after tax(These will reduce over coming years therefore increasing profit margins
2)Their main growth occurs when the worlds economies are strong & everyone is investing in risk assets(This could be about to occur according to a US fund manager who has started to invest funds in risk assets.Report on CNBC yesterday)
IMO I believe this company will grow exponentially over the coming years especially if it can crack the asian market.
