Yes, Jonesw is dead on.
It's just how many pieces the pie is cut into at the day of the day. The pie (being net assets) is no bigger or smaller as a result of a consolidation.
It's usually companies whose share price is close to zero who do them and hence they are sailing close to purgatory.
