I've been in and out of COF many times over the last few years - but am back in now for the ride.
COF has had a bad run, lost the confidence of the market, changed the management team and suffered the share price reaction associated with this - if you dissapoint you get hammered.
Given the revenue base, geographic footprint etc it has potential - with the right management. I have no idea whether a takeover is in the wings or not (neither should I, nor anybody else trading the stock for that matter). I suspect the recent trading is a result of fundies having pre-results catch ups with COF to "check that things are going along as planned" and "the management actions outlined in previous announcements are achieving the stated outcomes" etc
Based on the recent SP action and the sound fundamentals -if managed properly -there is no reason why this can't go much higher IMO
