Outlook improves for NSW winter crops
Friday, 24/06/2005
There are some anxious grain growers in New South Wales at the moment, itching to sow winter crops following good rain over the past week.
Between 20 to 95 millimetres fell across the states grainbelt, just as growers began to question whether they would get a winter crop at all.
While some had dry sown oats, barley and wheat, Stuart McMaster of Narrabri had not, and is now waiting for the ground to dry out.
"It's great, every night we are getting rain, two and four, three mils so it's kept it beautifully moist on top," he said.
