Hank, I'm with you. When considering any investment one should try and prosecute as strong a case against it before considering whether it is suitable as a purchase or not. If done effectively this strategy will save you a lot of money in the long run. The corollary to this is investors should avoid the easy trap of falling into confirmation bias where you only read opinions/news articles which support your already formed opinions.
What makes RQL so special as a business? The superiority of their management and the fact that they will design, construct, install and monitor their equipment designs (which distinguishes them from your typical of the shelf supplier.) They also have an exclusivity contract with the people who have designed and built their line of evaporators. These are two important competitive advantages.
Are there external sources to back up the claim that they are the best at what they do, have a specialized workforce? When the Fukashima Nuclear disaster occurred after the tsunami REL were selected after a world wide search for companies which offered the service and equipment they provide and their efforts were universally applauded afterward.
Best Wishes.
