re: Ann: KOG: Lyons Point Well - Drilling Upd... And looking at the updip cap formation the shale could be very thick from the pressure build up over millions of years.
I'd be going ahead very slowly at this stage, and making sure the blowout preventers were looking spick and span.
Of course we don't want to be biased now, so it is possible that this updip has been pushed up by a salt formation which could indicate a salt dome, although i doubt that because the seismic would have shown a different structure under the formation.
Although it may be that gas is the engine behind the updip as is what i think the geologists expect.
these features look very promising to me, but there is always the possibility that it's water pressure. It's hard to see scales on the image posted on the site for relevant measurement comparison, a clearer diagram would be appreciated.
