Wasabi Energy In our initial research report on Wasabi Energy we pointed out that the company was at the stage of establishing wholly owned subsidiaries to implement build-own-operate Kalina Cycle® projects in various locations around the world. The company announced on the 20 September that it had established a subsidiary, Imparator Enerji, to spearhead the development of its Independent Power Producer business in Turkey.
Wasabi Energy's Kalina Cycle® technology uses waste heat sources to generate electricity which can be used at the operating site or exported to the national grid. There is a huge amount of potential markets suitable for the adoption of the Kalina Cycle® technology and we would encourage any of our viewers to re-visit the Wasabi Energy research report to get a better understanding of some of these adaptations and discover more about Wasabi Energy's build-own-operate strategy. Wasabi's move into Turkey is perfectly timed. The country has recently announced a geothermal tariff of US$0.105/kWh, stimulating the industry with more than 100 MW of power plant contracts being awarded year to date. The company has been intensively evaluating Kalina Cycle® project development opportunities in Turkey since the beginning of the year and has commercial negotiations with a number of large energy focused companies which are interested in potentially adopting the Kalina Cycle® technology.
Wasabi Energy has also been involved in the evaluation of significant geothermal projects which may result in the co-development of Kalina Cycle® power plant/s in Turkey. The preliminary evaluation and thermodynamic modelling which has been conducted to date, confirms the performance advantages of the Kalina Cycle® technology over alternative technologies in the Turkish market.
Wasabi Energy's subsidiary Imparator Enerji, also presented at GeoPower Turkey on the 21 September 2011 to the Turkish International Renewable Energy Conference. The presentation can be found on the company's website or via this link and is definitely worth a look. Although a relatively simple technology, the highly protected Kalina Cycle® technology (over 200 international patents) provides access to a significant amount of markets and their is often a substantial amount of information to digest. Once investors fully understand the potential markets and the kalina Cycle® technology, they are rarely disappointed and this is definitely one stock to maintain a close eye on.
