AGL Energy Ltd (ASX:AGK) chief executive Michael Fraser said the carbon pricing scheme provides investment certainty for the energy industry.
In a statement released after the federal government’s announcement of the scheme yesterday, Mr Fraser said that studies had found a market-based carbon trading scheme had the best chance of achieving both the government's and opposition's target of reducing emissions by five per cent from 2000 levels by 2020.
He said that, for the energy industry, the government had very actively engaged with the key players who are most affected.
AGL Energy Ltd (ASX:AGK) reported an interim net profit of $239.6 million for the last six months of 2010.
