Ashburton Commences Obi Gold Project, Maluku Mining

Theindonesiatoday.com - ASX-listed Ashburton Minerals Ltd announces today it has commenced diamond drilling at Obi Gold project in Indonesia.
The company intends to initially drill 12-14 drill holes comprising with 3000 m and 4000 m of diamond core drill, dominantly NQ size in to the Ambon Artisanal gold workings located in northern part of the area.
Gold mineralization at Obi is of epithermal sinc lead, and copper credits, while silver appears relatively low. Of additional interest is the observation by the company site?s geologist of additional style of mineralization associated with shears zones, breccias and porphyrytic dykes as well pervasive hematite alteration.
All the drill core of the current drilling program will be oriented and structurally logged in order to provide maximum information on geometry and disposition of the mineralization at Obi.
Ashburton Minerals Ltd is an Australian company with primary focus on the Obi Gold Project. The best historical result on the project was 9.15m @ 26.25g/t from 38m conducted by BHP Billiton in 1995-1996. ([email protected])
