Might also be because the mine isn't delivering and the "mine grade" isn't the true grade. Gold is a fickle beast and if you don't do enough drilling the really know your reserve then it's pure guess work. It's not visual like massive sulphide deposits - sure the alteration might be visual but that doesn't = gold grade!
