gravity survey, page-2

Initially they just had the magnetic imagery... what that "proves" is that there must be certain categories of elements in the earth that cause that kind of signature. This does not exclusively translate into REE as far as I am aware, but it's one category of elements that causes those kinds of signatures.

The gravity survey as the name suggests looks at the mass and density of the material underground. What this gives some insight into is how big the deposit underground might be, and how densely it is packed. Again, this *may* indicate REE, or it may indicate a mix of other materials of similar aggregate weights and densities. Also keep in mind that to some extent, larger low-density (uneconomical) deposits can look the same as smaller high-density deposits from this perspective.

These are just layman assessments, I'm not a geologist, so take that into account when drawing conclusions from my characterisations above.

Also, keep in mind that all surface-based imaging is analogous to taking a 2D picture of a 3D object. In many cases it may give an accurate impression of what was really there, but sometimes there are "optical illusions" that look like something that it really isn't.

Ultimately, the only way to be certain is to drill and see what you *actually* find in the ground. The purpose of the imaging beforehand is twofold... first to make sure it's worth even going to look at all (so in a sense the imaging can never tell you there *will* be something, ... it can only tell you if there's nothing there), and secondly to determine what the best place might be to try drilling if things look promising.
