"I am one of those investors who select potential investments on fundamentals and then use the technical analysis for timing of the purchase. And as exit signal when SP turns."

Welcome to the team bvw. I too have been doing this for more years than I care to mention and it has rarely let me down. The big problem is ... well .... myself - not following the strategy. Such as your experience with CBD when it broke down. On that occasion I only had a small 'look and see' holding, so was able to build in the low teens. I did get caught with the general falls in 2008, thinking that the broken up trend lines was temporary! (Boy, can we fool ouselves sometimes.) Still, once the penny dropped I was out and did a lot better than many who stayed.

Interesting that the critics of charting say that those who follow them only follow a trend. But, as you say, it can also be used to catch the reversal of trends. Much more useful imo.

I'd be interested to find out what fundamental research you do?
