Interesting comment Solarfeen. While I probably agree that manufacturing inverters may not be worth it (Chinese inverters cheap and getting better, no chance of export market and currently entering period of world oversupply) and panels definitely is not (gross world manufacturing capacity in 2011 is 37 000 MW vs identified likely installations of 20 000 MW [Australia total installed generation capacity in all coal/hydro/wind/solar etc is about 60 000 MW]).
However I have argued that residential install margins are getting slimmer rapidly with rising industry size, trained installers, standardised systems etc. etc).
Perhaps we both agree that CBD hints that they may have secured 60 x 1MW utility scale systems in Italy is the right path to push?
I am looking forward to the increasing income streams coming from their growing number of wind/solar systems around the joint.
If CBD was to pull off a partnership with an Australian utility for a multi-megawatt installation in Australia I would be very happy and very optimistic.
