It seems that the Barnett gov in WA is not serious about increasing the amount of commercial PV fed into the grid - this ABC news article is now definite that the Premier was keen to increase the WA FIT for residential customers.
There is no mention of introducing a realistic FIT for commercial PV installations (the size and number of commercial installations would very quickly outrun the 40+MW of residential installations).
So the WA gov seems more intent on window dressing renewable power that actually increasing it as they are refusing to engage one of the biggest groups who could supply it!
Government likely to increase solar rebate Updated Mon Dec 6, 2010 3:33pm AEDT
Colin Barnett says the solar power rebate scheme has been very popular and it may be increased (ABC News) The Premier Colin Barnett has indicated the Government will increase its solar power rebate in the next state budget.
Residents who install solar panels on their homes are offered 40 cents per kilowatt of energy that is fed back into the electricity grid.
Mr Barnett says the scheme has proven very popular and Treasury is assessing whether to increase the 40 cent per kilowatt rebate.
"That's state government-funded and the State Govermnent, through Treasury, makes those funds available," he said.
"The scheme has been immensely popular and so, as part of next year's budget, we'll review the scheme with a view to increasing it, not decreasing it."
