Newbie,
The assets are worth what the market will pay. There has been an extensive public marketing campaign and numerous competitive bids based on complete due diligence. This defines the value of the assets.

The value of the assets calculated by an analyst in a backroom based on partial information is irrelevent. The analysts are only trying to replicate what a willing buyer and willing seller would get. In this case we know the answer.

The alternative of not selling the assets and keeping them in the company is illogical. The price of the shares has always and always will be at a discount to the asset value.

This is not a dividend paying company so the only way shareholders get money out is by selling shares or capital return. The return is higher by selling the assets and avoiding the share valuation discount.

It is only employees and their supporters who are better off if the company continues.
