Transfield Services Ltd (ASX:TSE) says it has secured $1.1 billion worth of work during the first quarter of fiscal 2011.

The Australian and New Zealand business has won $670 million of work with existing clients in the period.

Transfield says it has also secured work for the initial phase of the National Broadband Network rollout program to construct one of the first release sites as well as construction contracts with BHP Billiton Ltd (ASX:BHP) and Caltex Australia Ltd (ASX:CTX).

In August, managing director Peter Goode said the company delivered a satisfying full year result in a tough business environment, reflecting Transfield's disciplined approach to pursuing growth.

Adding that in fiscal 2010 the company focussed on capital management initiatives that produced a solid operating cash result allowing debt to be repaid. The company now has the lowest level of gearing since it first listed.

Transfield Services improved its net profit in the year to 30 June 2010, earning $73.55 million compared to a loss the year before.
