vcat bar20 liquor licence hearing

If anyone is still interested in the fortunes of PPN [formerly Daily Planet Ltd], the police case against the Bar20 liquor licence is underway at VCAT.

This was listed for a 8 day VCAT hearing. The media may find time to give us a progress report if they can drag themselves away from the Abbot v Ruddstabber sideshow.

Earlier VCAT ruling in the Exford liquor licence case found that the responsibility for misuse of alcohol lay with the consumer, not the seller. The police had had the Exford under surveillance for almost two years and had reported 50 incidents of anti-social conduct, harmful behaviour, and the abuse of alcohol.

VCAT described the Exford incidents as minor and said many could be related to other clubs and licensed premises in the area. VCAT cited an earlier court ruling that the responsibility for misuse of alcohol lay with the consumer, not the seller.

VCAT may give its BAR20 decision just in time for the PPN preliminary report due at the end of August.

With a bit of luck last years profit will be repeated and the long suffering PPN shareholders may score another healthy dividend this year.
