Beverages firm Coca-Cola Amatil (ASX:CCL) Ltd says it can't rule out interest in some of the beer assets of Foster's Group should they come up for sale and if the price is right.
Foster's announced in May it would separate its beer and struggling wine business into two listed companies.
Coca-Cola Amatil has a joint-venture beer business with global brewer SABMiller called Pacific Beverages.
In May, Coca-Cola Amatil claimed that Pacific Beverages had captured almost 10% of the premium beer market and that its biggest brand, Peroni, was the fastest growing premium beer in Australia.
Yesterday the company's group managing director Terry Davis was asked whether a bid for Foster's beer assets could be on the agenda.
Mr Davis said while the price at the moment is not right, that's "not to say that if the business got sold, we wouldn't look at some of the assets within that business."
Coca-Cola Amatil posted a $449 million in the 12 months to 30 December 2009.
