Face the facts. The traffic forecasting, which was critical to the determination that the tunnel would be aviable operation, was clearly flawed.
If the planners knew the real traffic numbers at the very beginning, the tunnel would not have proceeded, at least as an investment vehicle listed on the ASX.
Does anyone REALLY think that people en mass will stump up $4.28 each way? My God, they can't even attract patrons at the discounted rate. You might not like it, but drivers have voted by deciding to keep their wallets and purses firmly shut.
My belief is that, if they hope to save the company, they need to go the 'no frills' airline route, and SLASH tolls to get the people into the tunnel. No trip more than $2. Weekends and nights $1. No guarantee that it would work, but the writing seems to be on the wall if they keep doing what their doing now.
