Am local Barossa boy, the train goes past my back fence twice daily..
The track needs cash spent on it, as all rail tracks do, but too many old wooden sleepers on this one still.
PSH are the only ones to use the track, and are 100% responsible for it. They do tests weekly, and have just upgraded some local crossings from stop signs to lights and ding dings.
The overburden is stacked on the eastern boundary of the mine wall, and doesnt seem to be reducing in size. This seems to be where 90% of the dust issues arise from.
Locals cant go there anymore to grab rubble, so its hard to know how much stock is sitting there, but the main problem I see is how do they get the stuff out of Penrice itself in the future.
Must have a catch up with some of the workers to gain there insight to the situation from the inside.
Will let you know their feelings.
