You may know about the "carbon cowboys" doing shonky deals in PNG singing up locals for REDD Carbon Credit projects. Well one of the leaders in this was an Adelaide-based company called Carbon Planet, who in their prospectus claim to have billions worth of carbon credits tied up in PNG. They worked through a local PNG front company called Nupan Trading. The head of Nupan is one Kirk Roberts, who has an interesting background in cock-fighting and failed horse-racing. It seems that there has been a falling-out between Nupan and Carbon Planet. Nupan have cut all ties with Carbon Planet. I wonder if they jumped or were pushed? I think this is worth investigating, especially as the ACCC is currently looking into Oz carbon trading companies alleged misleading claims.
