hey cav, just remembered ... in case you weren't around to see it.
the best scam was to place your stock holdings with, for arguments sake (lol), Opes. use the very favourable margin lending policies to buy up enough to have some clout at the boardroom, take/demand a placement as you aptly described, pump the stock with some hype and short your placment stock compliments of opes. it was very entertaining and imho happened for a while on many stocks. a hint to to scam that it was, again imo, was blown open when opes fell over and a heap of stock they happened to own were those with sub 10M market cap, 100's, if not billions of shares on issue and no hope of getting out.
remeber MUL, now NWT? that was another one imo. I must thank him for the pump from the 2/3's to 11ish cents coz that's when i got out. :)
