Given that ivanhoe canada still owns 60% of their mongolian prospect (along with rio) and they still own 80% of IVA. The two are very much linked. If one needs money, im sure that the other one might be where they go to get the dollars....ie OT needs some cash, sell a bit of IVA to fund it.....simple equation. I think it is important people who follow this stock know whats happening to the parent company at all times.
And although i do not want to throw stones, alot of the south african mines were built on very cheap labour, through years of minority rule, these did not in any way bring wealth to the majority of the people in this country. Having come from that part of the world and then growing up in australia i can see the difference first hand. Things are getting better and now that there is a government for the people (all of the people in SA) i hope things will only get better for everyone.
I beleive that much like botswana the mongolian government knows that the mining companies need to make a profit but their first job is to provide for the people of the country. they are i must say doing a pretty good job of that at the moment and i hope it continues.
All the best mate, I like this stock, and that of its parent company, I hop everyone saw a buying op at 30c like i did!
