Portfolio, I see it a bit differently. I doubt whether we will see the USA exporting gas. Sure they have some wonderful new shale gas reserves that are getting incresed attention but imports from Canada are under pressure and their energy supplies from Mexico and Venezuela are a worry. They will need all the gas they can get.
Yesterday was an important day. China has now targetted the Canadian Tar Sands. In other words they foresee a looming problem. The low fruit has been picked. It is very similar to the old whalers chasing whale oil. They had to go further and further.
Iraq has been talked about as a saviour. They have 60,000 Union guys there that want foreigners off their soil. In the meantime the world's main oilfields are decling at 6.7% per annum. If demand picks up we have a problem. Why else would the Chinese target Tar Sands?
No wonder the Majors have come down to Australia to secure politcally stable CSG supplies. Well done BOW on proving up reserves and keeping independent. Location and alignment with Majors are the key factors for me in this CSG game which is about to take off as the first FID gets closer to approval.
