Less than seven months since its launch, V Australia has carried its 100,000th guest, taking the Virgin Blue Airline Group’s tally to 100-million guests since the company’s first flight in August 2000.

“V Australia has been very well received by travellers both here and in the US and we’ve been very encouraged by strong support for our newest airline,” said Virgin Blue Group CEO Brett Godfrey.

“In 2002, two years after our first airline Virgin Blue launched, we welcomed our 5-millionth Guest on board.

“Less than a year later our 10-millionth guest travelled and the number doubled to 20-million guests by April 2004. They were significant milestones for a ‘little’ airline at the time.

“These days we’d stopped counting until one of our team pointed out that V Australia’s 100,000th guest would mean our group had also passed the 100-millionth mark as we enter our 10th year so that’s reason enough to pop a few champagne corks,” Godfrey said.

V Australia’s 100,000th guest, Noel Palmer from Melbourne, who travelled with his wife Kerry from Sydney to Los Angeles on Aug 25, was pleasantly surprised at check-in with a personal greeting from the airport manager, access to the business lounge prior to the flight and a complimentary upgrade for two to travel in V Australia’s International Business Class.

The airline’s International Business Class features fully lie-flat beds, state-of-the-art seat back entertainment, on demand meals from the airline’s gourmet menu and premium refreshments served at your seat or at the Business Class sit down bar and dining area.

V Australia currently operates daily flights between Sydney and Los Angeles and three return services a week between Brisbane and LA, while recently announcing new routes commencing in December from Brisbane and Melbourne to Phuket, and Melbourne to Los Angeles and Johannesburg.
