Maybe "GNS need every bit of plantation land and timber in Tasmania they can get", but I reckon it's not commercially logical to do so particularly from FEA.
This is because
(1) At present the first thing GNS need to worry about is how to finalise the JV partner and get bank financing for the pulp mill, not the woodchip supply for the mill, which has been delayed again and again endlessly and the completion is still years away at best.
(2) If GNS really need to buy lands, it can buy GTP's lands in TAS now with a fire-sale price.
(3) If GNS took over FEA with the $200m debt burden, it would never get the bank financing for the mill again - it would be suicidal.
