the costs to connect to the grid are low enough to be a minor issue
Whereas with GDY it is a major issue (possibly a deal breaker) - by the way I also hold GDY so I am not ant-GDY
The study completed by JTIPL confirms that connection via the 33kV network can be completed for approximately $10m for the first 50MWe of geothermal power production, and an additional $22m for up to 200MWe production
access to water further enhances the economics for geothermal power conversion efficiency. In this respect the coastal location of the Port Augusta Project adds a significant competitive advantage, with the potential for a water cooled power plant to be established. The benefits of “wet versus “dry” (air) cooling include increased thermal efficiency, lower capital cost, reduced parasitic power demand and increased peak output
And modelled temperatures are well into what they need to be to be economic.
Plus of course it is a CO2 free energy source - just as the need & the will to address this will be heating up. I think if at all possible, the Govt & many other groups would like this going ASAP
In summary TEY is looking pretty darn good to me
