I don't know about China, but in the Philippines (where most of my extended family live) clothes can be made for a fifth of the price here in Australia. The average wage there is a fraction of that here, they're not working in sweatshops, they just work for less because of lower living standards and so on. As far as I'm concerned a job in the Philippines (and China I guess) is just as valuable as a job in Australia, maybe more since Filipino's don't get the dole.
Last time I checked, a pair of PBG undies went for a couple of dollars. It probably costs about $1 to make them here and about 20c offshore. The end result could be both an improved margin for PBG and a reduced price for undies.
