yes BG can buy on-market but limited to its bid price of $6.40. My bet is it is BG standing in market at $6.40.
I think Muzza is right about AOE, but i am not sure what price, as the AOE offer is part cash and AOE shares, so if AOE goes up, what price can it buy at? not sure.

But certainly Shell could buy PES, because it already bought the Mathews parcel, and it viewed itself to be not associated with AOE before.
But of course Shell is limited by FIRB limitation of 14.9% - so its stuck!

I would think Shell would need to bid-up AOE shares on-market - it can go up to 14.9% which would skyrocket AOE s/p and push up value of AOE offer.

this is tougher than the Darchinian bout the other day!
