BG is British Gas, thats why they took out QGC as far as i know to secure a certain supply that had no geo-political issues regardless of the logistics involved they would at least have access to a gas supply from a commonwealth nation and ally.
I can not imagine Her Majesty begging Mr Putin to turn the heat and lights back on in the palace during winter.
As for the rest of Europe well that's any ones guess they can always go Nuke.
But as you say BB energy will most certainly be the hot topic of 09 and beyond, so this will mean more scrambling to secure friendly nations supply be it gas or uranium.
