well the problem is, its not really the executives concern if the investors have lost 3/4 of their money. It is no coincidence, that the executives who take this course of action when it is not really necessary, are executives who DON'T have large personal shareholdings.
Getting more new money in the door gives the executives more money to play around with and lose.
And lower share prices give the executives a lot more scope for very lucrative option deals for themselves when better economic conditions return !
So its a win-win-win for the executives and the investors are the patsies.
